Salacgriva light-house
The Salacgriva Lighthouse is located on the right bank of the
Salaca River in the port area.
Built in 1925 as a rectangular white tower with a red
lantern.
The height of the lighthouse in meters was 8.4 m and 12.1 m
above the sea level.
The lighthouse was built considering the fact that due to the
many shallows, the coast between Salacgriva and Ainaži was the most
dangerous area for navigation on the entire coast of the Gulf of
Riga.
The lighthouse has not been in operation for 30 years, but its
relocation outside the port area was prompted by the action of the
stevedoring company Salaca Terminal to create cargo areas at its
wharf.
