St. Maria Goreti Roman Catholic Church

Built in 1997 (architect D. Straubegs, long-term mayor of Salacgrīva). The altar cross with Christ statue is made by the sculptor Jānis Bārda. Wall mosaics "Maria Goretti" and "Vaclav Bridge"are the works of Mairita Folkmane.

 July 27 1997 will be remembered by the people of Salacgrīva for a long time, because on this day V.E. Archbishop - Jānis Pujats consecrated the new Catholic church. The Salacgriva City Council played a great role and welcomed it: the construction of the church was started during the time of the Chairman of the City Council Jānis Ramats, but the new mayor Uldis Pūsilds helped to complete it. The church was designed by Dagnis Straubergs. The cross of the great altar and the image of Christ were made by the artist Jānis Bārda, Sv. Mosaic dedicated to Maria Goretti - Mārīte Folkmane. Services at Salacgriva Church take place every first Sunday of the month and Saturday before the third Sunday of the month at 15:00.
